Nuclear for climate
Nuclear for climate (N4C) is a grassroots initiative, which brings together scientists and professionals of the global nuclear community, and also citizens who believe that in order to fight climate change we have to act now. They believe that nuclear is part of the solution.

Key facts
  • Toward a low-carbon world
Discover in this infographic why nuclear energy is part of the solution for the electricity demand and climate challenges our planet is facing (and why we both need nuclear and renewable energy within a low carbon energy mix).
  • Nuclear energy and climate challenges
Discover the process of how nuclear fuels are turned into low carbon electricity and how we can use them in combination with renewables in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and the effects on the climate that come with high levels of them.
  • Is Nuclear Energy part of the Solution in the fight against Climate Change?
Data
  • CO2 emissions produced by 1kWh
Nuclear power is a low-carbon energy source. Throughout its life cycle (construction, operation, decommissioning) its emissions are comparable to those of renewable energy sources. Nuclear power emits an average of 15g CO2/kwh. This is 30 times less than gas (491g/kwh), 65 times less than coal (1024g/kwh), three times less than photovoltaic (45g/kwh) and about the same level as wind power.
