En 1988, tandis que Superph\u00e9nix fonctionnait, un nouveau projet europ\u00e9en de r\u00e9acteur rapide sodium EFR (European Fast Reactor) d\u00e9marra. Alors que l\u2019arr\u00eat de Superph\u00e9nix allait interrompre ce projet de r\u00e9acteur de 1500 MWe, un projet CP ESFR fut initi\u00e9 quelques ann\u00e9es plus tard pour \u00ab toiletter \u00bb les options d\u2019EFR et int\u00e9grer les \u00e9volutions techniques et de s\u00fbret\u00e9.<\/p>\n
C\u2019est sur cette nouvelle base qu\u2019un projet appel\u00e9 ESFR SMART a d\u00e9marr\u00e9 fin 2017.<\/p>\n
