The SFEN’s international groups pertinently illustrate the excellent level of expertise that characterises the nuclear sector and its recognition throughout the world. Building on its international network, the SFEN is one of the most predominant promoters of nuclear culture.
Three SFEN groups work to develop and promote the international prestige of the Association. They highlight the French nuclear sector’s research activities and technological achievements in those parts of the world where it is essential to develop nuclear energy.
The Asia-Pacific group (APA)
Several Asian countries are currently experiencing intense economic growth. Energy is not only essential to develop territories but also to stimulate economic growth. As these countries develop, they discover higher standards of living which push them to consume more energy than before. Electricity requirements expand at the same time. In order to meet these new requirements, ambitious nuclear energy development programmes have been put in place.
Aware of the issues at stake, the SFEN created the APA group, which helps to promote the French nuclear industry’s research findings and achievements throughout Asia.
The group builds trustworthy relationships with the SFEN’s counterpart organisations in countries that already have nuclear programmes: China, South Korea, India, Japan...
The SFEN-APA also strives to develop relationships with Asian countries that are planning to develop nuclear energy: Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam… APA answers their questions with regard to training, and scientific and technological cooperation.

The SFANS is the French section of the American Nuclear Society - ANS. It gathers professionals from companies operating in the nuclear sector.
The SFANS aims to strengthen the connexions between the American and French nuclear communities: national industries, government organisations, universities and laboratories. It helps to promote the French nuclear industry’s research findings and achievements throughout the United States.
In order to encourage knowledge sharing, the SFANS organises thematic conferences featuring American international specialists, information meetings, technical visits to French nuclear installations and student exchange programmes.
The SFANS enables France to be represented in ANS operational bodies.

SFEN-Austria shares its knowledge of nuclear energy with the international organisations based in Austria: the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty Organisation (CBTBO) and the missions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs seconded to these organisations.
